Lyrics

Interrogate Them

This sickening sight
Of assembled “Christians”
The Sunday in a church
Worship their god
Tread the right path
And believe there is only one way

It’s the “burn in hell” syndrome
For those that don’t conform
The Judas for those that disagree
Well I’d rather burn in hell
Than live my life
For someone else’s conformity

The sickening sight
Of plastic Christians
Slaves to the cross
Religious crutches
For the weak and old
And they believe that this is the way

We live by our own rules
Respect and trust
I don’t need this label to be
I live by my own name
And need no god
And believe there is more than one way

Devoted to Christ
Living by holy law
Unable to see
Because of blindness
Devoted to Christ
Living by hly law

This sickening sight
Of assembled Christians
The Sunday in a church
Worship their god
Tread the right path
And believe there is only one way

I Beg In Blood

War!
War was to beging
A young life to kill
Raked into death
A fallen down target to
A fallen down target to…kill
Steal!
Steal the life in war
Forming the hanging gore
Capturing you to fill
Your life full of to kill

Shattered!
A shattered body wants to live
Begging!
A begging body wants to give
Please help the way I’m living
I!
I beg in blood
I!
I beg in blood
Shattered! Life!
Dead!
Dead bodies litter up
A war path full of blood
And this still goes on in
A young body time to…kill

Justly Executed

Natural Order

Governed by free will
I speak for myself
Those who cannot
I stand by them

In theory and practice
Natural order is true
My oath of allegiance
No compromise in law
No!
No compromise in law…law

Enslavers

They came to me to pray
That Jesus Christ was here to stay
What proof do they have in that?
Much more like a stab in the back

They came to me to say
Would you like a better life?
Godliness the utmost health
They’re really spitting the bad facts

Full of promise
Full of smiles
Full of money
Full of lies

Come in with us to see
The god almighty their king
Come with us to see
The light god shines for me

Fuhrers of the new church
Don’t come to me about gods gift
Stay away and preach to yourself
Stay away and keep to yourself

Full of promise
Full of smiles
Full of money
Full of lies

They came to me to pray
That Jesus Christ was here to stay
What proof do they have in that?
Much more like a stab in the back

They came to me to say
Would you like a better life?
Godliness the utmost health
They’re really spitting the bad facts

Black Force

From the mist we came-enraged with hate
We kept a check on your world
Anger grew with time they don’t learn
Corporate scum-the family of dog

Atrocities of a new reich
Their power breeds war
Feel the black force
Feel the black force

We gave out warnings for years
But the last chance has come in tears
Begin to understand the menace
As you rot with your collaborators
As you rot with your collaborators

Atrocities of a new reich
Their power breeds war
Feel the black force
Feel the black force

The black force
Rising through the mist
See it now, the black force
Rising…

The only authority above myself
Is constructive reason from others
Once ignored then I’m to blame
And the black force
My grave, my grave, my grave

Neon Storms

I pray each night that I’ll see the light
To guide me through my rest
But I know that I’ll only pray in vain
At my holy alter made from steel
‘Cos nobody’s gonna guide me through
This neon storm smashing my mind…my mind

The neon storm
That tries to kill
Each braincell in my head
It twists each word
That I try to say
It turned my love
From gold to red

The words they came as the final blow
They knocked me to the floor
If only I could have stopped this hurt
That is eating away at my life
Oh god somebody try to stop
This neon storm smashing my mind…my mind

The neon storm
That tries to kill
Each braincell in my head
It twists each word
That I try to say
It turned my love
From gold to red

I wonder when I’ll find my peace
My life is in the hands of fate
I’m living my life with blinded eyes
There’s an arrow shot through my heart
And no medicine or needle shots will stop
This neon storm smashing my mind…my mind

The neon storm
That tries to kill
Each braincell in my head
It twists each word
That I try to say
It turned my love
From gold to red

There Is No God But Man (Or Woman)

Right…
Man has the right
To live by his own law
To live in the way
That he wills to do
To work as he will
To play as he will
To rest as he will
To live and die as he will

There is no god but man
There is no god but man

Man has the right
To think what he will
To speak what he will
How he wills to do
To write what he will
To dress how he will
To drink what he will
To live and die how he will

There is no god but man
There is no god but man

Man has the right
To kill those who
Would thwart these rights
There is no god
But man or woman
There is no god

In my sights…in my sights

Reviews

Starting as a grind/crust band, Newcastle’s Hellbastard released thrash metal album ‘Natural Order’ for the annoyance of their former fans, who accused the band of turning into “rock stars”. I don’t believe the thrash metal maniacs were annoyed at all, though, since this is one small, rackety gem.

I believe this wasn’t anything too unique even back in 1990, but I haven’t encountered anything exactly similar either. Mainly good/very good riffing in European vein is the highlight element of the album. The guitar sound is biting and nastily ripping. There’s some fine solos and melodic lead guitar work to be heard, mainly on side one (songs 1-5 to you all CD spinners) which offers quite a lot of variation (especially the opener ‘Interrogate Them’, the finest piece on this album). Sparse acoustic guitars are all good, except the closer ‘T.A.F.’ which does not fit on this album, being more like a rock thing. Otherwise side two offers total thrashing experience. Generally, some of the songs are simply too long for their own good or miss a good, different enough chorus. These are minor shortcomings, since the riffs usually rule. The Colin Richardson production is powerful, biting and quite raw, but still clean enough letting all the nuances be heard.

Some things aren’t very thrashy on this album. The drumming is the main problem; okay, it’s kicking and all, but a few simplistic beats aren’t enough. Vocals are nasty at their best (raspy voice in general, with screams and more grunting voices to bring some variety), but too often they sound tame. The lyrics show the past of the band, as themes include anti-something (war, religion, legal praxis etc. etc.) lyrics. The band’s performance is more or less energetic at times, mainly more, and also powerful enough.

‘Natural Order’ is a good thrash album for sure. Surprisingly metal, when thinking about Hellbastard’s past musical bastardizations. Thrash metal collectors, get it if you find it, there’s loads of treats on this fucker!
